SEO Audit for Shopify help

Getting started with SEO Audit for Shopify

SEO Audit for Shopify by Cape Wired (shown as "Store Audit: SEO & AI Search" in your Shopify admin) checks your Shopify store against 40 practical checks in four areas:

Last updated: 12 October 2026

Each check scores 0 (missing or broken), 1 (partly done) or 2 (done well). That gives a score out of 20 for each area and a store score out of 80. You also get an action plan: the 10 fixes worth most to your store, in order. Most stores have a result in about 10 minutes.

01

How it works: three steps

1. Pick your key pages

The app suggests your homepage, the collections in your main menu and a few products from each. Add your best-sellers so the audit looks at the pages that matter most. You can also enter a synonym for the search test (a word customers use for your product that you don't).

2. Let the app check them

The app reads your store data and visits your public pages, as any visitor could. It visits at most 50 pages, one per second, so your store does not slow down. This usually takes one to two minutes.

3. Answer a few questions

Some things the app can't see, such as your checkout or your Search Console account. For these it asks short Yes or No questions. See How to answer the questions.

02

What your score means

Store score (out of 80)

  • 70 to 80: Excellent: polish only
  • 60 to 69: Strong
  • 40 to 59: Solid base, clear gaps
  • 0 to 39: Leaking: start with quick wins

Area scores (out of 20)

  • 16 to 20: Green: strong
  • 10 to 15: Amber: clear gaps
  • 0 to 9: Red: fix first

Some checks show "Needs your input". Until you answer them, they count towards your score using the app's own result. Your overall band shows once you have answered the questions that are waiting for you.

03

The app only reads your store

The app is read-only. It never changes your products, pages or theme, and it never adds code or scripts to your storefront. It does not read orders, customers or payments. See Privacy for the details.

04

Mark as done

Each fix in your action plan has a Mark as done button. Use it to keep track as you work through the list. You can undo it at any time.

Ticks belong to that one audit. Marking a fix as done does not change your score. When you run a new audit, the app checks everything again from scratch, so you can see whether each fix really worked.

05

When to audit again

Run a new audit when you have worked through your action plan, and at least every 90 days. Stores change over time: new products, new apps and theme updates can all undo earlier fixes. The app shows a suggested re-audit date 90 days after each audit.

06

Want to go deeper?

The app tells you what to fix and in what order. The Cape Wired Shopify DIY Self-Audit Kit goes further on every one of the 40 checks, with worked examples from real stores, the full checklist and a scorecard spreadsheet to track your progress. It's a one-off £49 with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Get the kit for £49
