SEO Audit for Shopify help
Privacy in plain English
This is a short summary of the SEO Audit for Shopify privacy policy. The full policy is the one that applies. Read the full privacy policy.
Last updated: 12 October 2026Who we are
The app is made by Cape Wired, a UK business. Contact us about your data at contact@capewired.com.
The short version
- The app only reads your store. It never changes it and never adds code to your storefront.
- It does not access your customers, orders or payments.
- We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.
- When you uninstall, we delete everything we hold about your store.
What the app reads
Using the read-only permissions you approve when you install it, the app reads:
- your store name, web address, country and currency
- products and collections: titles, descriptions, search engine titles and descriptions, images (including alt text, size and dimensions), prices, barcodes, product types and vendors
- online store pages, blog articles and URL redirects
- navigation menus
- the file names in your live theme and its main layout file.
It also visits your public storefront pages, sitemap and robots.txt file, as any visitor could. It makes no more than one request a second and at most 50 per audit.
What we store
- Your audit results: scores and short summaries of what each check found, such as product titles, page addresses and short snippets of text. We don't store copies of your pages.
- The key pages used for each audit.
- Your answers to the audit questions, and any AI prompt test results you record.
- The access token Shopify gives the app so it can read your store.
If you enter your storefront password to audit a password-protected store, it is used for that audit only and never stored.
Services we use
- Google PageSpeed Insights receives the public web addresses of your homepage and one product page to measure their speed.
- Shopify provides the connection to your store.
- Render (render.com) runs the app and its database in Frankfurt, Germany (European Union).
How long we keep it
We keep your audit history while the app is installed, so you can compare audits over time. When you uninstall, the app's access to your store ends straight away. Shopify then asks us to delete your store's data, usually 48 hours later, and we delete everything we hold about your store at that point.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about your store, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing contact@capewired.com. If you are in the UK or EU, you can also complain to your data protection authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office.
