Converts to WebP · Resizes for Shopify · Download all as a .zip · Free, no sign-up

How it works

Three steps, nothing to install

Add your images

Drag them in or choose them from your device. Add as many as you like.

Pick a format and size

WebP gives the smallest files. 2048 px suits Shopify product images, and 1200 px is plenty for blog posts.

Download

Save images one at a time or all together as a .zip, with tidy, SEO-friendly file names.

Shopify image sizes

What size should your Shopify images be?

Many slow Shopify pages we audit have the same problem: photos uploaded straight from a camera or phone at 4000 px and several megabytes each. These sizes are a sensible starting point.

2048 × 2048 px

Product images

Square and sharp enough for zoom, without the weight of a camera original.

1920 to 2400 px wide

Hero banners

Check your theme's recommended ratio first so nothing important gets cropped on mobile.

1200 to 1600 px wide

Blog and page images

Images inside articles rarely display wider than this, so anything bigger is wasted download.

SVG or 2x PNG

Logos and icons

Use SVG where your theme supports it, otherwise a PNG at twice the size it appears on screen.

FAQ

Questions about optimising images

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The optimiser runs entirely in your web browser. Your images are processed on your own device and are never sent to Cape Wired or anyone else.

Does Shopify accept WebP images?

Yes. Shopify accepts WebP uploads, and its CDN also serves WebP or AVIF automatically to browsers that support them. For product photos, uploading at a sensible size usually matters more than the file type.

Which quality setting should I use?

Start at 80. For most product photos you won't see a difference between 75 and 85, but the file size drops a lot. Click any thumbnail to compare before and after, and check fine detail such as fabric texture or small text.

Will it make my images look worse?

Not at sensible settings. Compression removes detail the eye doesn't notice, and resizing only ever makes images smaller. If a file comes out bigger than the original, the tool tells you and can keep the original instead.

Can it read iPhone photos?

Most browsers can't read iPhone HEIC photos. Export them as JPEG first, or set your iPhone camera format to Most Compatible, and they will work.

Are images the only thing slowing my store down?

Usually not. Apps, theme code and third-party scripts often matter just as much. Our free 12-point checklist covers the main checks across speed, product pages and SEO.

Want a faster store?

Images are only part of the picture

The free 12-Point Shopify Store Health Check covers speed, product pages, SEO and AI search visibility. It takes about 15 minutes, with no jargon.
