Support beyond the platform help desk

Help with the Shopify store your customers and team actually use

Shopify provides the hosted platform and its core infrastructure. Merchants still need hands-on help with the theme, catalogue, apps, tracking, content and practical storefront work that falls outside platform-level support.

Cape Wired provides implementation-led support. That may mean fixing a defined theme problem, creating a reusable section, improving a product template, investigating an app conflict or maintaining a prioritised monthly development backlog.

The work is not handed through a large agency account structure. Clients work directly with the founder, with trusted specialists brought in only where a requirement genuinely falls outside the core Shopify, ecommerce SEO or implementation scope.

What Shopify support can cover

Focused technical help and ongoing store improvements

Support is scoped around the live store and the work actually required. Common areas include:

01

Theme changes and fixes

Resolve layout problems, broken components, styling inconsistencies and responsive issues within the existing Shopify theme.

02

Custom Liquid implementation

Build or improve reusable sections, blocks, templates and metafield-driven content while keeping merchant-editable content manageable.

03

Product and collection support

Improve product templates, collection layouts, filtering, merchandising, product data and the structure used across the catalogue.

04

Apps and integrations

Configure suitable apps, investigate conflicts, review duplicated functionality and identify when third-party specialist support is required.

05

Navigation and customer journeys

Refine menus, search, filters, internal links, mobile journeys and the routes customers use to discover and compare products.

06

SEO and analytics implementation

Implement agreed metadata, internal links, structured content, tracking changes and technical SEO improvements within Shopify.

07

Campaign and launch support

Prepare landing pages, collection changes, promotional content and on-site updates for product launches and seasonal campaigns.

08

Performance and housekeeping

Review avoidable app weight, duplicated scripts, old theme code and other storefront issues that can make the store harder to maintain.

09

Priorities and backlog planning

Turn a mixed list of requests into a practical implementation order based on risk, commercial value, dependencies and available capacity.

Choose the right arrangement

One-off support when the task is defined, retained support when the backlog is ongoing

Not every merchant needs a monthly retainer. The right arrangement depends on whether there is a finite group of tasks or a continuing requirement for store development, content, SEO and campaign work.

Defined requirement

Focused Shopify support block

Suitable when the issue or backlog can be reviewed, scoped and completed as a defined piece of work.

  • A defined list of fixes or improvements
  • Review of the relevant theme, app or template
  • Implementation and practical testing
  • Clear handover notes where useful
  • No ongoing commitment required
Continuing requirement

Ongoing Shopify support

Suitable when the store has regular product, campaign, content, technical and optimisation work that needs a consistent monthly rhythm.

  • Monthly priority planning
  • Reserved implementation capacity
  • A visible backlog and agreed working order
  • Progress reporting and next-step recommendations
  • Continuity from someone who knows the store

Clear support boundaries

Support should be flexible without becoming vague or unlimited

What retained support provides

A monthly agreement reserves a defined level of Cape Wired capacity. Priorities may change, but the available capacity, communication rhythm and implementation responsibility remain clear.

  • Agreed communication and planning rhythm
  • Work completed in commercial priority order
  • Visibility of what is active, completed and next
  • Implementation across connected Shopify workstreams
  • Clear escalation when outside expertise is needed

What it does not mean

A retainer is not an unlimited task subscription or an emergency help desk. Significant builds, migrations and extensive content programmes still need appropriate scoping.

  • No unlimited requests or unlimited development
  • No guaranteed same-day response or resolution
  • No twenty-four-hour emergency support
  • No automatic inclusion of paid third-party services
  • No guaranteed revenue, conversion or ranking outcome

Shopify support pricing

How the monthly agreement works

The retainer reserves a defined level of Cape Wired capacity each month. Work is agreed in priority order, completed within that capacity and reviewed before the next cycle begins. The proposal confirms the working rhythm, responsibilities, exclusions and commercial terms before support starts.

  • Monthly support is paid in advance.
  • An initial three-month period is recommended for ongoing improvement work.
  • Unused capacity does not automatically roll over unless agreed in writing.
  • Large builds, migrations and extensive content programmes are scoped separately.
  • Shopify subscriptions, themes, apps and other third-party costs are separate.

03

Shopify support FAQ

Questions about focused and ongoing Shopify support

What does Shopify support cover?

Support can cover theme changes, Liquid development, product and collection templates, navigation, app configuration, technical investigation, analytics implementation, SEO changes, campaign pages and other agreed storefront improvements.

How much does Shopify support cost?

Focused support starts from £650. Ongoing support starts at £600 per month, with broader growth support at £1,000 per month and priority support from £1,500 per month. Complex stores or unusually demanding requirements may need a separate proposal.

Do I need a monthly support agreement?

No. A focused support block is suitable when the task list is defined. Monthly support is more appropriate when the store has a continuing backlog across development, catalogue work, content, SEO or campaigns.

How is the work prioritised each month?

Priorities are agreed against urgency, risk, commercial value, dependencies and the available monthly capacity. The aim is to keep important work moving rather than treating every request as equally urgent.

Does unused monthly capacity roll over?

Not automatically. The agreement reserves working capacity for a specific month, so rollover arrangements must be agreed in writing. Work that is delayed by missing client information may need to be rescheduled.

Can Cape Wired make changes without approval?

Material storefront changes are agreed before publication. Work is normally completed in a duplicate theme or appropriate test environment where practical. Small administrative changes may be completed directly when the risk is low and the approach has been agreed.

Can you fix problems caused by Shopify apps?

Cape Wired can investigate app configuration, theme conflicts, duplicated functionality and storefront behaviour. Some issues require action from the app developer or a specialist integration partner, which will be explained clearly when identified.

Do you provide emergency or twenty-four-hour support?

No. Cape Wired provides planned, founder-led support rather than a twenty-four-hour help desk. Urgent issues can be assessed when capacity allows, but an immediate response or resolution cannot be guaranteed.

Are Shopify, theme and app fees included?

No. Shopify subscriptions, premium themes, app fees and third-party services are paid separately by the merchant unless a proposal states otherwise.

Will support guarantee higher sales or rankings?

No. Technical and storefront improvements can remove friction, strengthen store quality and support wider marketing work, but commercial performance and search visibility depend on many factors. Cape Wired does not guarantee specific revenue, conversion or ranking outcomes.

Does the Shopify support backlog keep growing?

Share the live store, current theme and the main issues or improvements waiting for attention. Cape Wired will recommend whether a focused support block, monthly arrangement or wider project is the most practical next step.

Commercial and search outcomes depend on the business, products, market, pricing, competition, available data and implementation. Historic project performance does not guarantee equivalent outcomes for another store.
