How to get more Google reviews
Most happy customers will leave a review if you ask at the right moment and make it easy. These four habits make the biggest difference.
Timing
Ask while it's fresh
A day or two after delivery, or at the end of a visit. Leave it a month and most people won't get round to it.
Ease
Send the link itself
One tap to the star rating beats "search for us on Google". Put the QR code on receipts, packaging and your counter.
Fairness
Ask every customer
Asking only the happy ones (review gating) and offering rewards for reviews are both against Google's rules.
Replies
Answer every review
Thank people for good reviews and reply calmly to bad ones. Future customers read the replies as well as the stars.

Review link questions
What is a Google review link?
A link that opens the review box for your Google Business Profile straight away, so customers can pick a star rating and write a review without searching for you first.
Why doesn't my Google Maps link work?
A normal Google Maps or share link doesn't contain the ID a review link needs. Use the Ask for reviews link from your Business Profile, or your Place ID from Google's free Place ID Finder. The tool shows you how to find both.
What is a Place ID?
A unique code Google gives each business on Google Maps, usually starting ChIJ. Editing your profile doesn't change it, so a review link built from it keeps working.
Can I offer a discount in return for a review?
No. Google doesn't allow incentives for reviews, and since April 2025 UK consumer law has banned fake reviews and incentivised reviews that aren't disclosed. The simple rule: ask every customer and offer nothing in return.
Is anything I enter stored?
Only in your own browser, so the tool remembers your link next time on the same device. Nothing is sent to Cape Wired or anyone else, and the QR code is made on the page.
